Adult congenital heart disease (CHD) refers to the presence of congenital heart defects in the adult age group.

With the progressive success in the area of treatment of babies with even the most complex congenital heart defects, the pediatric cardiologist is following a rapidly growing population of adults with CHD.

It has typically been the pediatric cardiologist who has followed this group of adult heart patients and who now has the expertise in the management of the various heart conditions which may develop years after the patient’s original treatment.
